The Bradman Era
This film, traces the career of Sir Donald from the early 1930s through
until 1948, when he led an undefeated Australian team in England in his
last Test series. For twenty years he dominated the world of cricket as
no one had done before. So great was his influence that the notorious
'bodyline' theory was developed by England captain Douglas Jardine and
fast bowler Harold Larwood in 1932, specifically to cut Bradman down to
size. Narration is by Bill O'Reilly, himself regarded as perhaps the
greatest leg spin bowler of all time. The film displays his strokes,
shows many of his great innings and contains coverage of controversial
incidents during the 'bodyline' series in 1932-33, It also shows the great
players in action, Walter Hammond, Keith Miller and Ray Lindwall.
